CAF Champions League: CFFA aims for a historic feat

The reigning Madagascar champion, CFFA, departed yesterday for Tanzania, where they will play both legs of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League against Young Africans SC.

The Andoharanofotsy Football Training Center (CFFA) delegation, consisting of twenty-five players and staff, arrived in Tanzania after a stopover in Addis Ababa. The team has three days to acclimatize before the first leg on Saturday, October 17, at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam, with the return leg scheduled for October 21 at the same venue.

Coach Franck Rajaonarisamba stated, “We are playing both legs away to minimize costs. The players are in great shape, and we aim to reach the group stage to write a new chapter in Malagasy football history.”

CFFA reached this stage by defeating Lesotho’s Lijabatho FC with a 3-1 aggregate score. They now face the formidable Young Africans SC, a Tanzanian powerhouse with twenty-seven national titles. Success in this tie would secure a spot in the group stage, which runs from November to January 2027.
