The government is continuing its efforts to clean up public administration. On Sunday evening, Prime Minister Mamitiana Rajaonarison met with the secretaries-general and anti-corruption officials from all ministries at Mahazoarivo. The meeting was dedicated to directives on measures to be taken to combat corruption.
The head of government firmly requested that they implement his instructions to eradicate corruption within ministries and public services. “Those who do not dare to take their responsibilities should resign,” he stated, emphasizing that “the fight against corruption will make no distinction, even when it involves those close to us.”
He urged participants to show no complacency toward public officials or authorities involved in acts of corruption. He announced that sanctions would be immediately applied to those who engage in such acts deliberately. “The opportunities for a Malagasy citizen to progress and enjoy their rights must not depend on their connections, family ties, or proximity to certain individuals,” he added.
According to the Prime Minister, corruption hinders development and must be eradicated. The structures responsible for combating it are already in place. Public affairs management will be subject to oversight in every ministry. The Anti-Corruption Pole (PAC) is also ready to process the files that will be submitted to it.
