DIANA Region: Fanjiry Association Announces Social Initiatives in Betsiaka

The rural commune of Betsiaka, located in the Ambilobe district and renowned for its gold resources, hosted a major regional gathering of the Fanjiry association this Saturday.

Thousands of people from various localities and communities across Madagascar attended the event. The gathering, attended by Elisa Randrianirina, wife of the President of the Refoundation of the Republic, focused on solidarity and the announcement of significant equipment donations.

Elisa Berthine Randrianirina highlighted Betsiaka’s unique ability to foster coexistence among diverse populations, embodying the Malagasy spirit of ‘fihavanana’ (solidarity). She urged women to unite and become active participants in national development.

The association announced a wide range of support measures, including 23 water boreholes for Betsiaka, Nosy Be, and Antsiranana, an ambulance boat for Cap Diego, 150 sewing machines, poultry farming training with 3,000 chicks, school kits, bicycles, maternity kits, and an ultrasound machine. A sum of 50 million Ariary was also allocated for local festivities.

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, the Mayor of Betsiaka, Marie Edonisse Henri Texnas, drew attention to critical local challenges, including the lack of potable water, high electricity costs, and a shortage of medical and educational personnel.
