US Ankadifotsy faces TF Anatihazo this Sunday in the quarter-finals of the Madagascar Cup. While favored on paper, USA must be wary of a TFA side determined to secure its place in the semi-finals.
The two teams will compete for a spot in the final four this Sunday starting at 1:00 PM at the Makis Andohatapenaka stadium. The advantage leans toward USA, but TFA intends to play its chances to the fullest.
On paper, US Ankadifotsy is the favorite. A historic club founded in 1922, USA possesses significant experience in major events. As a two-time Madagascar championship finalist, with their last appearance in 2023, the Ankadifotsy club aims to return to the forefront. Their ability to manage the pressure of knockout matches could be a decisive factor.
“It’s a knockout match. There are no calculations to be made. We must seek victory, nothing but victory,” says Eric Tovondrainy, assistant coach of US Ankadifotsy.
However, TF Anatihazo has no intention of being a mere underdog. The team has already shown it can compete with solid opponents, notably defeating TFM Ankasina 37-30 in the 2025 Madagascar Cup quarter-finals. Mamy Andriamaro, the TFA coach, remains determined: “Both teams have their strengths, and the chance of reaching the semi-finals is fifty-fifty. We will try not to give any space to the opposing players.”
Qualification will depend on each team’s ability to impose their game and limit errors. USA must confirm its status as favorite, while TFA will rely on discipline, cohesion, and efficiency to defy the odds.
