Pétanque World Championships: Five expatriates among the pre-selected players

Forty-three pre-selected players, including five expatriates, will participate in the training camp and final tests to determine the four representatives for Madagascar at the World Championships in Thailand.

The Malagasy Boules Sports Federation (FSBM) unveiled the list of players summoned for the final selection ahead of the senior men’s world championships, covering both triples and precision shooting. The event will take place in Khon Kaen, Thailand, from November 20 to 25.

The pre-selected players are expected at the Ankatso boulodrome for a training camp from October 10 to 14. Among the five expatriates are three members of the Décines club in France: Yves Sedrick Rakotoarisoa, Jean François Daniel Rakotondrainibe (known as “Zigle”), and Faratiana Rakotoniaina (known as “Tiana kely”). The other two are Christian Andriantseheno (known as “Racle”) from Vaulx-en-Velin, and Alhenz Zoel Tonitsihoarana (known as “Toutoune”), who plays in Mauritius.

The selection criteria prioritize reigning world champions, vice-champions, and gold medalists from the African Zone 4 championships, alongside national champions and top performers from the national league trophies.

The first phase of selection tests is scheduled for October 10-11, with the final phase from October 12-14. The final squad of four players is expected to be announced on October 15.
