The Andoharanofotsy Football Training Center (CFFA) is in the final stretch of preparations. The reigning Madagascar champion is gearing up for the second preliminary round of the African Champions League.
“We had enough time after the first round. We dedicated the first part of our preparation to muscle strengthening with two daily sessions. Starting this week, we are focusing on tactics and game strategy,” says head coach Franck Rajaonarisamba.
The team is also playing friendly matches every weekend. “We are not looking at the results. During these matches, we are working on tactical organization and, above all, the speed of execution needed against a continental opponent. I am satisfied with the players’ efforts,” the coach added.
To reach this level, CFFA eliminated Lijabatho FC (Lesotho) with a 3-1 aggregate score, following a 2-0 victory in the first leg (in Mauritius) and a 1-1 draw in the return leg.
In the next round, Franck Rajaonarisamba’s men will challenge Young Africans SC. The first leg is scheduled between October 16 and 18, and the return leg between October 23 and 25.
“After our qualification and the colossal expenses incurred by the club, we have to tighten our belts. We will have to play both matches in Tanzania, even if it puts us at a disadvantage. We plan to schedule them three or four days apart to minimize costs,” the coach explained.
On paper, the opponent commands respect: Young Africans SC is the most successful club in Tanzania, with 27 national championships (including five consecutive ones), eight Cups, and nine Super Cups.
If successful in this confrontation, CFFA will join the group stage, which brings together sixteen clubs divided into four pools from November to January 2027. The top two from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
