This clarification comes from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which reiterates that “the diploma issued will remain attached to one of the three series” of the new system, namely L, S, and OSE, and that “the options will not lead to separate diplomas.”
By maintaining options A1, A2, C, and D, authorities state they want to account for the differences in curricula and paths of students from the old school system. The development of Baccalaureate subjects should therefore take these specificities into account. According to an authorized source at the ministry, candidates in the same series will be evaluated on a common knowledge base, but additional elements may be integrated into the exam subjects based on the chosen options.
The source cites the example of candidates who completed a ‘Première C or D’ but are continuing in the ‘S’ series in their final year. “Since they have not necessarily studied all the content provided in the curriculum corresponding to the new system, certain particularities of their path must be taken into consideration,” the source specifies.
Furthermore, for 2027, the design of the tests will be done in consultation with private institutions and other relevant stakeholders. This consultation should allow for the consideration of the two frameworks in force during this transition period: the School Program (PS) of the old system and the Study Program (PE) of the new system. “It is not a question of modifying the new study program,” the source assures. “It is the design of the subjects that must adapt to the reality of the candidates’ paths, so that students from the old system are not disadvantaged by the change in curriculum,” she concludes.
