Fieldwork for the national consultation is underway. The national coordination team announced that the initial training for actors deployed in the districts begins this Monday, following the national-level training of trainers. This first phase of fieldwork, led by the Council of Christian Churches in Madagascar (FFKM) with the support of the Prime Minister’s Office, is scheduled to conclude on October 30, ahead of the mass training rollout across the 114 districts.
A total of 470 trainers have been prepared to oversee the process across the Great Island. “They are ready and trained,” stated Joseph Amade, General Coordinator of the national consultation, in a video statement released on Friday. However, the launch of mass training depends on the availability of 5,200 tablets provided by the Prime Minister’s Office, according to coordination officials.
The general coordination also confirmed that it has finalized the necessary tools for conducting the consultations. These include methodological manuals designed to guide grassroots discussions, as well as a digital system created to collect and centralize participant contributions.
Part of the process of refounding the State and governance in Madagascar, the national consultation aims to gather public proposals on institutional reforms and the return to constitutional order. After training those who will lead the discussions down to the 14,900 fokontany (villages) of the country, the actual consultations will begin, and resolutions will be reported progressively. The work carried out at the local level is intended to feed into a final grand national consultation, with the presentation of consolidated resolutions scheduled between March and May 2027.
