The GNBC, RBC Boeny, BCB Boeny, and the defending champion COSPN have secured their spots in the final four of the Madagascar N1A basketball championship, setting the stage for dream semi-finals.
The highly anticipated GNBC team did not falter against BC Somava. The Gendarmes quickly took control of the quarter-final. After Somava opened the scoring, Fiary leveled the game before GNBC shifted into high gear, building a commanding lead to finish the first quarter 28-11. Despite Somava’s efforts to react, the Gendarmes maintained their dominance, leading 54-30 at halftime and eventually winning 92-70.
“We suffered during the first two quarters as my players struggled to get into the game,” analyzed Jimmy Razafindrakoto, coach of BC Somava. For the GNBC, the next match is personal. “We have no room for error. We will face RBC in the semi-final and we intend to take our revenge to reach the final,” declared the Gendarmes’ coach.
The Boeny region is well-represented in the final four. BCB Boeny defeated MBC 72-60, and RBC Boeny secured their spot by beating COSFA 74-61. RBC Boeny will face the GNBC in a highly anticipated semi-final, having already defeated the Gendarmes during the group stage.
Meanwhile, the defending champion COSPN had to fight hard to reach the final four, narrowly defeating ASCUT 70-66 after overtime.
