Madagascar Airlines is spreading its wings towards Reunion Island. The Malagasy airline has announced the resumption of the route between Madagascar and Reunion Island on December 16, featuring a connection between Reunion, Sainte-Marie, and Antananarivo. The flight will be operated by an ATR 72 with two weekly rotations.
This resumption will be preceded by a symbolic first return to Roland Garros Airport. An ATR 72 from Madagascar Airlines will land in Reunion this Saturday, October 3, marking the company’s return to the Reunion platform and launching the new phase of this regional link.
The inclusion of Sainte-Marie is a key focus of this resumption. The service is intended to strengthen connections between Reunion and Madagascar, while facilitating access for Reunion travelers to Sainte-Marie, Antananarivo, and, through the Madagascar Airlines network, to other Malagasy destinations.
“Our ambition is to make the regional network a true tool for bringing territories closer together,” emphasizes Rija Tahiana Razafimbelo, Deputy Director General in charge of aeronautical operations at Madagascar Airlines. He presents the return to Roland Garros Airport as a means to develop routes that meet mobility needs and make Malagasy destinations more accessible.
Roland Garros Airport also welcomes this resumption. “Two flights per week will connect Reunion to Sainte-Marie Island, a destination with undeniable assets. Alongside Madagascar Airlines, we are continuing our ambition to develop regional links and foster tourism, economic, and human exchanges in the Indian Ocean,” highlights Fabrice Grondin, a member of the board of directors of Roland Garros Airport.
The airline will also take advantage of its visit to Reunion on October 3 to participate in the “Cap sur l’île Sainte-Marie” event, organized in Saint-Paul. This meeting aims to promote the destination to the Reunion public and professionals and to present new travel possibilities between the two territories.
