JUSTICE – Marie Michelle Sahondrarimalala sentenced to five years in prison by the Antananarivo court for endangering state security

The verdict has been delivered for Marie Michelle Sahondrarimalala. The former Minister of National Education has been sentenced to five years of firm imprisonment in a case involving accusations of endangering state security. She was found guilty of the charges brought against her, alongside twelve other defendants. The Court of First Instance of Antananarivo rendered its decision this Wednesday.

The deputy elected under the Irmar banner in the Fianarantsoa I constituency had already been in pre-trial detention since January 19. In addition to this state security case, she is also suspected in other cases of embezzlement of public funds, related to the period when she was still a minister.

As for the twelve other defendants, presented as close to the former regime and placed under judicial supervision since January 19, they were sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment.

Beyond the case related to endangering state security, the former Minister of National Education is also suspected in another case linked to allegations of embezzlement of public funds. A committal order was issued against her by the Anti-Corruption Pole of Antananarivo in August as part of this investigation.
