The State is establishing a new structure dedicated to the fight against corruption. During this Tuesday’s Council of Ministers, the High Commission for Youth in charge of Civic Engagement and Anti-Corruption (HCJ-ECLC) was instituted under the Presidency of the Republic.
Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, President of the Refondation, announced the creation of this “special structure” last Friday during the commemoration of September 25th. He stated that the Head of State intends to work with young people to combat this scourge, emphasizing that this initiative would bypass both politicians and the government. The Council of Ministers’ report confirms that this new body will be composed of young people and aims to strengthen citizen participation in the fight against corruption.
The Head of State expressed regret that although Madagascar already possesses several organizations dedicated to this fight, such as the Independent Anti-Corruption Bureau (Bianco), the Financial Intelligence Service (Samifin), and the Committee for the Safeguarding of Integrity (CSI), corruption continues to grow. He reiterated that “as long as there is corruption, the demands of the Refondation have no meaning.”
