MUSIC – Anisha Jo makes a splash in front of 80,000 young people

The Malagasy artist brought her voice to the Stade de France during the prayer vigil organized as part of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to France.

The Stade de France resonated with the sound of Anisha Jo’s voice in front of 80,000 young people. On Friday, September 25, the Malagasy singer, who rose to fame through “Star Academy,” participated in the grand prayer vigil organized for Pope Leo XIV’s visit to France. On stage, accompanied by several choristers, she performed “Oh Happy Day” and “Hallelujah” to accompany this gathering dedicated to prayer. (Diocese of Paris)

Born on November 29, 1999, in Antananarivo as Anisha Jo Anyjaine, Anisha Jo discovered her passion for singing early on, particularly after hearing Queen’s “The Show Must Go On.” In 2016, she moved to France to pursue higher education in human and social sciences in Paris. At the same time, she developed her musical career, gave singing lessons, and performed on Parisian open stages.

In 2020, she released “Broken Out,” her first English-language folk track. Two years later, she reached a decisive milestone by joining the tenth season of “Star Academy” on TF1. On November 26, 2022, she won the final against Enola, Léa, and Louis. This victory brought her to the attention of the general public and also became a landmark moment for the Malagasy audience.

She then continued her career with “Lumière,” her first album with pop and folk influences. After the intense media coverage linked to her appearance on the show, the artist chose to refocus on her projects and divides her time between France and Madagascar, where she finds part of her inspiration.

Her performance at the Stade de France marks a new step in a journey that has taken her from Madagascar to the French stage. In front of the thousands of young people gathered for this vigil, Anisha Jo lent her voice to a moment she associates with hope, love, and unity.
