The transfer of Chinese nationals detained in Madagascar in connection with cybercrime cases continues. Following an initial group transferred on September 8, a second contingent left Madagascar overnight between September 23 and 24. A special flight, which took off around 2:30 a.m., transported 49 detainees, including 44 men and 5 women, to China.
According to authorities, they will continue to serve the remainder of their sentences in Chinese correctional facilities under strict judicial supervision. However, this does not mean that their sentences have been canceled or reduced. The decisions rendered by the Malagasy justice system remain in effect, and the sentences must be served in full.
This transfer is part of strengthened judicial cooperation between Madagascar and China. It aims to ensure the enforcement of court decisions while contributing to reducing the number of detainees in Malagasy prisons.
