On September 23, 2026, two men were arrested inside the protected forest of Menabe Antimena while they were in the “core zone,” an area strictly off-limits to the public. They are suspected of entering the area clandestinely to hunt sifakas, a species of protected lemurs. The arrest was carried out by local authorities.
