ANTSONJOMBE – Ambondrona celebrates a quarter-century of continuous success

To celebrate 25 years of their career and their bond with fans, Ambondrona is honoring its seven albums at its upcoming concert at the Coliseum.

Twenty-five years, seven albums, and several generations of fans: Ambondrona is celebrating this long history with its audience through “Ivony,” scheduled for this Sunday, September 27, at the Antsonjombe Coliseum. For about three and a half hours, the band plans to revisit the various stages of its musical journey by highlighting tracks from its seven albums, tracing the 25-year relationship built with its public.

The concert will feature a unique setup, with the stage placed in the center of the Coliseum. This choice explains the name “Ivony,” which means center or middle. The goal is to bring the band members closer to the spectators and create a special intimacy for this anniversary event. Doors will open at 10 a.m., with the concert starting at 3 p.m.

The repertoire will cover Ambondrona’s history, from its earliest tracks to more recent creations, including “Toa Krismasy,” a single released in December 2025, written and composed by Beranto. The song evokes nostalgia, distance, and the importance of maintaining ties with loved ones.

For Beranto, the band’s lead composer and guitarist, this longevity is based on sharing with the public. Over the years, Ambondrona has toured extensively across Madagascar, visiting several regions and provincial capitals. The 25th-anniversary celebration, which began in March 2026 at La City, has already continued in Fianarantsoa, Mahajanga, and Antsirabe.

The celebration will continue until 2027, with stops planned in the Sava and Fort-Dauphin regions, as well as a return to various locations visited by Ambondrona throughout its 25-year career. This anniversary tour also includes an international journey, with performances in the Indian Ocean region—notably Reunion Island and Mauritius—as well as South Africa, Europe, the United States, and Canada.

In addition to its musical activities, Ambondrona is involved in social causes. The band serves as an ambassador for the SCNLS and has been actively engaged in initiatives such as the distribution of school kits.

At the Coliseum, the seven albums will be at the heart of an evening dedicated to 25 years of music and mutual loyalty between Ambondrona and its fans. The band hopes to reunite with the supporters who have accompanied them through different periods of their journey and make this event a new milestone in their history.
