The ball is now in the court of the Presidency. The recruitment process for the Director General of the Financial Intelligence Service (Samifin) is nearing its conclusion. The Committee for the Safeguarding of Integrity (CSI) announced that the three selected candidates have been forwarded to the President for the final appointment procedure. It now remains for the Head of State to select one of the three candidates and sign the appointment decree to complete the process.
In a statement released on September 23, 2026, the CSI recalled that the process, led by the ad hoc recruitment committee, was launched on June 22, 2026. The call for applications was first published on July 6. By the closing date of August 11, 27 applications had been registered. The selection took place in several stages, including the review of files and curricula vitae, interviews with shortlisted candidates, and background checks conducted by the relevant authorities.
At the end of this procedure, three candidates were included in the shortlist. Their files were transmitted to the President, the appointing authority, on September 10, 2026. The Director General of Samifin is appointed for a four-year term, renewable once, by decree issued in the Council of Ministers, from among the three candidates selected by the Recruitment Committee.
Following the appointment of Mamitiana Rajaonarison as Prime Minister in mid-March, and while awaiting the completion of the selection process for his successor at the head of Samifin, the Executive chose to appoint Haja Lalao Razanamanana as interim Director General three months later.
