FOOTBALL – Final preparations for the Barea on the eve of their match against the Super Eagles in Uyo, Nigeria

The third day of preparation marks the final adjustments for the Barea, just one day before their match against the Nigerian Super Eagles. Arriving in Uyo in waves since Monday, the Malagasy squad was complete by Tuesday, according to the Malagasy Football Federation, for the first day of training ahead of their opening match in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification campaign. The match will take place this Friday at 7:00 PM at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.

Madagascar enters this campaign in Group L alongside Nigeria, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau, with only one qualifying spot available. As Tanzania is one of the three co-hosts of the AFCON, they have already automatically qualified for the final tournament. Therefore, within this group, only the highest-ranked team will secure the remaining qualifying ticket.

For the Barea, the goal is to secure points from this first match before facing the Taifa Stars of Tanzania four days later. Madagascar will host the Tanzanian team on September 29 at the Meknès Honor Stadium in Morocco, due to the lack of a certified stadium capable of hosting official matches on the Great Island.
