The president of the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF), Alfred Randriamanampisoa, responded to viewers’ questions on Tuesday evening during a special broadcast on the national channel.
In a counter-attack during the show hosted by journalist Nathan Mahaiavy, Randriamanampisoa targeted several former Barea players who reached the quarter-finals of the 2019 AFCON. Without naming them, he appeared to be aiming at former captain Faneva Andriantsima, Lalaina “Bolida” Nomenjanahary, and Voavy Paulin, who have been criticizing the current federation’s management for over a year.
Despite the tension, Randriamanampisoa called for unity, stating, “We should not waste time criticizing each other on social media. We should instead exchange ideas and help one another.”
During the hour-long broadcast, the FMF president addressed various topics, including the independence of coach Corentin Martins, the absence of the Barea from the COSAFA U20 tournament, and the unpaid salaries of coach Roro. He also commented on the upcoming federation elections, suggesting that candidates should “climb the ladder” through experience before running for office.
