Two men were injured during an assault committed by several individuals on Sunday night in Itaosy. One of them, who was seriously wounded, remains hospitalized. The second was able to return home and is continuing his treatment. Two suspects have been placed in police custody by the gendarmerie.
The two victims, who are relatives, were walking home with friends when they were accosted by five men in Ambohitsaratelo, on the road leading to Andohatanjona. According to initial investigation findings, some of the assailants wounded them with a bladed weapon.
After taking the two men to the hospital, their relatives filed a complaint. The gendarmes arrested a first suspect that same evening. Described as the main instigator of the attack, he was reportedly found in possession of the knife used, according to a source close to the investigation. A second suspect was placed in custody the following day after being brought to the gendarmerie by his family.
