HEALTH PROFESSIONS – Scholarships for future radiology technicians

An opportunity has opened up for high school graduates interested in health professions. The Medical Institute of Madagascar (IMM) and Arovy University have formalized a major partnership. This initiative provides 25 full scholarships covering three years of study to obtain a bachelor’s degree in radiology technology.

“Medical imaging plays an increasingly important role in modern medicine. We immediately think of radiography, but this field goes much further: CT scans, MRI, interventional imaging, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, and functional explorations. Behind these technologies, we need professionals specially trained to use them correctly and safely. Our ambition is to train these medical imaging specialists in Madagascar,” said Emma Ralijohn, PhD, rector of the university, on Thursday.

To award these scholarships, the university plans to pre-select about sixty candidates. They will undergo two weeks of training in science, technology, health, English, and leadership. An evaluation covering these subjects will be organized at the end of the training. The 25 winners will then join the university.

The future scholarship recipients will join the campus located in Ambohimarina-Est, in the commune of Ambohimangakely. During their curriculum, they will benefit from a framework combining theoretical teaching and practical immersion. During practical work, students will notably be required to use state-of-the-art medical equipment.

This program aims to train professionals who are immediately operational, capable of using advanced technologies in radiology, CT scans, and MRI. At the end of the three years of study, students will obtain a license allowing them to practice as a radiology technician. Applications can be submitted until the end of September.
