Two men, a father and his son, were reportedly struck by lightning the day before yesterday afternoon in Miandrarivo, in the rural commune of Tsiroanomandidy. They were quickly transported to a health center. Unfortunately, the father did not survive. The latter was the director of a primary school (EPP). His son, however, was saved.
The tragedy occurred while the school director and his son were walking from Soamanana, in the commune of Miandrarivo, towards Tsiroanomandidy. Around 4 p.m., heavy rains accompanied by violent thunderclaps hit the region. A powerful lightning strike was heard by the villagers.
Shortly after, a man riding a bicycle discovered the two victims lying on the side of the road, about a kilometer from the village. Both were motionless and unconscious.
