MOBILITY – Alasora Municipality implements multiple measures to ease traffic in Amoronakona and surrounding areas

Cleaning the station surroundings, reorganizing parking, banning hand-pushed vehicles, sanitizing street commerce, and repairing potholes: the rural municipality of Alasora is multiplying measures to streamline traffic around the new Amoronakona bus station, whose recent opening has led to an increase in vehicle flow along the Alasora axis. These efforts range from reorganizing public space usage and transport vehicle circulation to improving road conditions and banning irregular parking.

As road degradation is a major cause of traffic slowdowns, pothole filling work was carried out at night on the By-pass, particularly near the Mandikanamana-Amoronakona bridge on the Boulevard de Tokyo-RN60 axis.

Other measures include cleaning and clearing the sides of the By-pass. Traders and residents have been urged not to occupy the road or its verges in a way that hinders traffic. Weekend operations successfully removed commercial installations occupying spaces around the station and reorganized motorcycle taxis and carts parked in unauthorized areas.

Parking for carts and similar vehicles on the By-pass and Alasora access ramps is now prohibited. The municipality also plans to remove and relocate certain bus stops on the By-pass and South Ambohipo that are likely to disrupt traffic flow.

These interventions were carried out by the Alasora Municipality with the support of numerous stakeholders. Neighboring municipalities, the region, the Ministry of Public Works and its decentralized services, the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology, the Land Transport Agency, law enforcement, and the bus station concessionaire all participated in the work and meetings to help ease traffic around Amoronakona. Massive traffic jams have plagued this area since all bush taxis serving the RN7 and RN2 routes were transferred there.
