Anti-Corruption Pole: Public trial begins for the case of Boeing 777s delivered to Iran

The Anti-Corruption Pole (PAC) opened the trial this Tuesday regarding the case of Boeing 777 aircraft delivered to Iran. According to a source from the Ministry of Justice, several individuals implicated in this case will appear before judges in a public hearing.

According to the Civil Aviation of Madagascar (ACM), its general management submitted the file concerning this case, which sparked an international scandal, to the PAC located in 67 Ha. A request for a parliamentary inquiry has also been filed with the National Assembly.

The so-called Boeing 777 case involving deliveries to Iran erupted in July 2025. It directly involves agents and officials from the ACM, an international network of shell companies, and the Iranian airline Mahan Air, which is under U.S. sanctions.

Five Boeing aircraft, initially operated by Singapore Airlines, were allegedly smuggled to Iran via several countries. To circumvent international sanctions prohibiting the supply of American-made aircraft to Iran, provisional registration certificates issued by the ACM were used. Authorities at the time claimed these documents were used fraudulently beyond their validity periods.

About twenty people have been placed in pre-trial detention as part of the investigation. Those prosecuted include high-ranking officials and executives of the ACM, a former Minister of Transport, as well as intermediaries, notably foreign nationals linked to aviation brokerage firms. Individuals suspected of participating in the document forgery chain and acts of corruption are also involved.

The defendants face charges of corruption, forgery and use of forged documents, money laundering, criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and endangering state security.
