Pétanque – Ruoms Top 1000: Lova, Baloty, and Bondy fall in the final

Stopped at the gates of glory. The trio of Lova Satamandimby Rakotoarisoa, Faralahy Urbain Joseph Ramanantiaray (alias “Baloty”), and Steph James “Bondy” Rakotonirina were defeated 8-13 by Romain Fournie, Maison Durk, and Kevin Prudhomme in the final of the international Top 1000 tournament in Ruoms this Sunday.

The “Mada 1” team reached the final after eliminating Félix Moenne Loccoz, Amelien Colomb Ravinet, and Anthony Taverne in the semi-finals, following a quarter-final victory over Folien Saint-Machin, Sébastien Yannis, and Elie Wintertein. The winning trio led by Maison Durk had previously edged out “Mada 2″—composed of Tiana Laurens Razanadrakoto (known as “Tonnerre”), Tafita Angelo Andriamahandry, and Jean Mickaël Ratolojanahary—with a score of 13-12 in the semi-finals. The “Tonnerre” team had dominated Alexandre Bressy, Christophe Dupeyre, and Sébastien Raynaud in the quarter-finals.

The two Malagasy selections had previously won the three preceding summer tournaments in Chalon-sur-Saône, Charleville-Mézières, and Bron in turns.
