TRANSPORTATION – Toliara bush taxis to relocate to Amoronakona

The heads of the Atsimo Andrefana, Androy, Anosy, and Ihorombe regions, officials from the Land Transport Agency (ATT), the regional director of Transport and Meteorology for Atsimo Andrefana, representatives of the national gendarmerie, and transport cooperative leaders met at the Atsimo Andrefana regional office. They reached an agreement that bush taxis (taxis-brousse) arriving from the south will now relocate to the Amoronakona bus station, located at the Bypass in Antananarivo.

“This decision is part of the renewal and change process currently advocated by the State. Transport cooperatives have agreed to join the new Amoronakona bus station,” explained General Olivier Miandrisoa, head of the Atsimo Andrefana region. However, he requested that convenient transport options, such as shuttles, be made available for passengers to reach the city center.

Manohisoa, a representative of the transport cooperatives, took the opportunity during last Thursday’s meeting with local authorities to voice their concerns. “We are also requesting that the regional and national bush taxi station in Sanfily, Toliara, be moved to Motombe Ouest in Andranomena. It is more spacious, similar to Amoronakona, and will be more orderly. Our passengers will not mind spending a little more to reach that location,” he emphasized. This project to relocate the station to Andranomena has been under consideration by the urban commune of Toliara and transport operators for ten years. It remains unrealized for various reasons. To be continued.
