HILL CLIMB – Juan Rakotojohary on the verge of a fifth star

Motorsport enthusiasts, whether with friends or family, are heading to Masindray this weekend. The third edition of the dirt track hill climb, dubbed the “Montée Masindray,” which serves as the fourth round of the Madagascar Slalom and Hill Climb Championship organized by the FMMSAM club, will take place on a private estate in Masindray this Saturday and Sunday.

The victory in the first three national rounds was secured by the young FMMSAM driver, Juan Rakotojohary, behind the wheel of a Clio. The four-time Madagascar champion is closing in on a fifth star. One more victory would confirm his title early for this season. The race will be held on a brand-new site, on a 1,500-meter-long dirt loop circuit. Three heats are on the program, though not all are mandatory. However, each driver must complete at least one climb to be classified.

The timed practice is scheduled for around 10 a.m. this Saturday. The start of the first heat is set for 1 p.m. Those who set the best times in the practice session will start first. Those who achieve the best times in the first climb will start first in the second heat, and those with the best times in the second run will start last in the third and final climb.
