Madagascar Airlines is continuing its recovery plan and is now targeting Reunion Island as the next step in its regional redeployment. The Malagasy national carrier made this announcement on the sidelines of the IFTM Top Resa 2026 trade fair, held in Paris this week. The deployment is scheduled for the coming months, according to a source within the company.
In a statement published on its Facebook page, the company specified that its teams are mobilized on the ground “to forge solid partnerships, promote the relaunch of our regional routes, namely Moroni and very soon Reunion, and prepare for our future long-haul flights.” This declaration, made during IFTM Top Resa 2026, confirms Madagascar Airlines’ ambition to strengthen its presence in the Indian Ocean before considering long-term expansion to other international destinations. Marseille and Guangzhou are already on the company’s radar.
This announcement is part of a recovery momentum already underway. On July 30, Madagascar Airlines marked its return to the Antananarivo-Moroni route via Mahajanga. This resumption was particularly well-received by the Malagasy and Comorian communities, who had been eagerly awaiting the reopening of this line, which had been suspended since July 2022 due to the health crisis.
With this new project to Reunion Island, the Malagasy national carrier confirms its desire to reconquer its regional network in the Indian Ocean, a strategic zone for tourism and economic exchanges.
