This distinction recognizes his academic results alongside his basketball career at the American institution.
By obtaining the Certificate of Academic Excellence, the young Malagasy point guard proves that basketball is not his only field of performance. Being on the Dean’s List indicates a high academic level, as the distinction is primarily a “recognition of academic performance.” For Mickaël Fabrizio Heritiana, “success is not limited to basketball.” He explains, “It also requires discipline, consistency, and hard work in studies.”
At NMMI, an institution that combines academic training, cadet life, and sports activities, academic requirements are set within a highly structured framework. “Managing studies, basketball, and military life requires a lot of commitment,” the young Ankoay confides. Acknowledging that “it is not always easy,” he asserts that “with hard work and determination, it is possible to pursue excellence in every field.”
On the court, Mickaël Fabrizio Heritiana also continues his development. Statistics for the 2025-2026 season show that the young Ankoay has played 30 games, including seven as a starter, with an average playing time of 12.1 minutes per game and an average of four points per match.
Mickaël Fabrizio Heritiana left Madagascar in October 2023 to join the New Mexico Military Institute. His arrival in the United States followed several experiences with national youth teams. Notably, he was part of the Malagasy selection that competed in the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup.
