VOLLEYBALL – Toky Rajoharivelo shines in Ligue A

In recent weeks, many young talents playing abroad, particularly in France, have been gaining attention on social media. The 19-year-old Franco-Malagasy dual national, Toky Rajoharivelo, is among those who have had an exceptional journey. The 1.94m outside hitter currently plays for the semi-professional club Grenoble Volleyball in the elite division 1.

Toky began playing the sport at the age of 13 at Voironnais VB, then at Saint-Egrève. His first touch of the ball was love at first sight during his first tryout in middle school. His rise from the regional training center (Pôle Espoir) to Ligue A has been impressive. His four years at the Lyon Pôle Espoir were marked by a French championship title and a runner-up finish. Consequently, he was selected for the French youth national team, competing in both the European and World Championships.

Toky subsequently joined the training center of ASUL Lyon in Ligue A. He has competed in European competitions, including the European Cup and the Challenge Cup. “It was time for everyone to see that Malagasy volleyball exists. We have very good young players who are extremely motivated (…) I am always ready to take on challenges under all its colors,” he told Gasy Volleyball when asked about his interest in the national team. Regarding national competitions, he has played in Ligue A, Ligue B, and the French Cup. He also gained experience in the Luxembourg championship.
