TRAFFIC UPDATE – Road between Mahamasina Gymnasium and Ankadilalana to become two-way starting Monday

A new temporary traffic reorganization is underway in the Mahamasina area. Starting Monday, September 14, traffic will be opened in both directions between the indoor gymnasium, Tometal, and Ankadilalana. This measure is part of the phase 2 works of the Antananarivo Integrated Sanitation Project (PIAA2). It aims to maintain traffic flow, as circulation is currently limited to a single lane near Antanimbarinandriana.

Development work began on September 10, 2026, at the Ankadilalana roundabout, opposite the Palais des Sports, and the roundabout in front of the Mahamasina indoor gymnasium, according to project officials. Vehicles coming from Amparibe heading towards Ankadilalana will be able to use the road passing through Tometal and the Mahamasina neighborhood market.

The new traffic plan also includes a temporary reorganization of parking areas at the indoor gymnasium, the Palais des Sports, and Tometal. Additionally, a space will be reserved for immobilized vehicles. Traffic will return to normal once the work at these various sites is completed, officials stated.

This reorganization was defined in consultation with the Urban Commune of Antananarivo (CUA), the 5th Arrondissement Police Station, and other stakeholders involved in the project. Road users are urged to respect signage and on-site instructions to ensure safety and traffic fluidity during the construction period.
