70 stakeholders from the agricultural and industrial sectors will gather in Ankatso from September 14 to 18 for the Agronomy Fair. The event, organized by the Higher School of Agronomic Sciences (ESSA), will focus on issues related to the development of local production and food sovereignty. It will foster exchanges between producers, students, agronomists, companies, public institutions, development organizations, researchers, projects, start-ups, and the general public.
The Inviso Group, through its subsidiaries, is supporting this initiative, which aims to make agronomy a lever for agricultural development and food sovereignty. The edition is themed “Madagascar towards food sovereignty: agricultural development and promotion of local production.” “All countries in the world are currently striving to strengthen their food autonomy to reduce their dependence on imports, which represent a burden on national economies,” explains Hery Razafimahatratra, Director of ESSA.
For ESSA, food sovereignty is not limited to the capacity to produce more. It also involves better promotion of local products, the development of sustainable agricultural systems, and the strengthening of skills necessary for the modernization of the sector. This requires the mobilization of all actors involved in agricultural production and value addition, the institution believes.
During the three days open to the public, from September 15 to 17, the fair will offer exhibitions, sales, conferences, professional meetings, and various activities. Innovations, local initiatives, services, and professions related to agronomic sciences will also be presented to the public.
The support from the Inviso Group aims to strengthen the mobilization of the private sector alongside professionals, students, and institutions committed to agricultural development. This involvement is intended to foster networking among various actors and the creation of collaborations around skills, innovations, and opportunities offered by the agronomic sector.
September 14 will be dedicated to team-building activities for students. The final day will be dedicated to the official graduation of the “Vaheny Matsioka” class, with 130 new agronomists, as well as the welcoming of 100 new engineering students.
