Ninety countries and 1,800 participating companies. These are the figures announced for the 2026 edition of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). It is being held from September 9 to 13 at Shougang Park in Beijing. For this edition, the event aims to strengthen its role as a global platform for openness, cooperation, and innovation in the service trade.
To this end, CIFTIS 2026 is structured around three pillars: “expanding openness, deepening cooperation, and driving innovation.” This orientation reflects the ambition to make CIFTIS more than just a trade fair, positioning it as a platform for exchange regarding the major transformations affecting the service sector, as explained during the first day yesterday.
Hundreds of booths fill the immense exhibition park, adorned with an industrial decor that serves as a reminder that the site is a former decommissioned steel complex.
Forums and conferences are also being held on the sidelines of the fair. The debates are structured around five major themes. The first concerns digital and intelligent technologies, notably artificial intelligence, large language models, and intelligent agents. This is followed by high-level opening of service trade, green and sustainable development, health services and cultural tourism, and the integration between services and the manufacturing industry.
The scale of the program confirms its international vocation. Nine thematic exhibitions cover telecommunications, information technology, finance, culture and tourism, health, education, sports, construction, and business services. Created in 2012, the purpose of CIFTIS was to strengthen the international competitiveness of China’s service sector and support the transformation of the country’s economic model. Officially renamed in 2019 and designated by the abbreviation CIFTIS starting in 2020, it has developed over more than a decade to become, according to its organizers, the world’s largest fair dedicated to trade in services.
