JÔKÔSÔ – The Comedy Festival bets on the diversity of humor

The 6th edition of the Jôkôsô Comedy Festival will take place from September 18 to 20 in Antananarivo, featuring three days of shows, stand-up, and meetings dedicated to humor.

The festival aims to bring together Malagasy comedians on a single stage while offering the public a refreshed program. From September 18 to 20, the event will feature both renowned figures and new faces, highlighting the work accomplished by artists throughout the year. Participants are selected by the festival team based on their performances during the season, rather than through an open call for applications.

This edition stands out with a more limited number of invited comedians, allowing each performer more space to express themselves while maintaining the show’s duration. The goal is to offer more polished performances that can eventually be broadcast on YouTube and other platforms, increasing the artists’ visibility.

Jôkôsô’s vision is centered on gathering comedy actors to reach a wider audience. Diversity is key, with a mix of established stars like Francis, Gothlieb, and Dadavy alongside new talents, allowing the public to discover various styles and personalities. The program includes Gothlieb’s one-man show at Tana Water Front on September 18, a meeting with Francis Turbo at the Alliance Française d’Antananarivo on September 19, and Tsiresy Radilofera’s show “Maât” at the CGM/Goethe-Zentrum Antananarivo.
