SPORT – “Aikon” highlights Malagasy sports talent with a quarterly publication

A newcomer has arrived in the Malagasy sports media landscape. The quarterly magazine “Aikon” was officially presented on Friday at the Barea Stadium in Mahamasina. Published every three months, the magazine focuses on in-depth reports, portraits, and analyses dedicated to Malagasy sports.

“Aikon” aims to offer coverage that goes beyond simple sports news reporting. The magazine intends to explore the behind-the-scenes of performances and focus on specific disciplines or themes in its feature stories.

“While we do provide summaries of news and publish upcoming events every three months, our main focus in the feature sections is on a specific discipline or theme,” explained Fetra Rakotondrasoava, the publication director, during the magazine’s presentation.

The magazine also places significant importance on individual journeys through interviews and portraits of athletes and sports figures. “Madagascar is full of talent, and we are giving them a stage to showcase themselves as role models for the youth. Behind the success of an athlete or a team, there are sacrifices and investments made to win the gold medal,” the director emphasized.

Beyond athletic performance, “Aikon” also wishes to address the economic and social issues related to sports. The publication intends to highlight the role of various disciplines in society and the dynamics surrounding them.

This orientation is reflected in its editorial line, described as “positive journalism.” “Admittedly, there are problems in the world of sports, but we prefer to report on the positive side and good results to encourage athletes and governing bodies to always do better,” added Fetra Rakotondrasoava.
