American investments could contribute to the development of infrastructure in Madagascar. With this in mind, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Aimé Herinjatovo Ramiarison, met on September 1st in Antaninarenina with Tom Bevan, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the United States Embassy, accompanied by an American delegation.
The discussions mainly focused on mobilizing private capital to meet the country’s significant needs. Roads, energy, electrical grids, and digital infrastructure are among the sectors likely to benefit from this funding. Given limited public resources, the use of public-private partnerships (PPPs) appears to be a lever to accelerate the implementation of these projects.
The energy sector also occupies a central place in this cooperation. Madagascar intends to increase the share of renewable energies to reduce its dependence on imported fuels and sustainably improve access to electricity.
Access to water and health are also areas of cooperation. Studies on water resource prospecting are being considered, while health cooperation concerns laboratories, frontline personnel, supply chains, and disease surveillance.
