Warmer weather is expected in Antananarivo in the coming days. Following a weekend marked by a drop in temperatures, particularly in the Central Highlands and the East Coast, the mercury is set to rise gradually starting Tuesday. According to the Ampandrianomby Meteorological Center, temperatures could reach up to 24°C in the Central Highlands, compared to the 18°C recorded over the weekend. A gradual improvement in weather conditions is expected throughout the week.
Winds, which remain quite strong this Monday in the northern regions and some areas of the Central Highlands, are also expected to gradually lose intensity. “The week should be marked by a gradual improvement in weather conditions and a return to higher temperatures,” said Lahatra Mampionona, a technician at the Ampandrianomby Meteorological Center.
According to the forecaster, the drop in temperatures observed since Friday is linked to the presence of a powerful anticyclone that has strengthened the trade winds. “An anticyclone is an area of high atmospheric pressure. In this type of system, winds circulate in a counter-clockwise direction. The trade winds then become moderate to strong,” he explained.
