An all-Analamanga final. The National Gendarmerie Volleyball team missed out on two titles at the Madagascar U21 Cup. In the boys’ category, Akany Sambatra Itaosy (ASI) won 3-0 (25/20, 25/18, 25/17) against GNVB on Friday evening at the Ampisikina gymnasium in Mahajanga. In the girls’ category, another club from Itaosy, Bi’as, defeated the Betongolo team 3-0 (26/24, 25/20, 25/17) in the final.
The U15 boys’ final was an internal affair between the Gendarmes, with the first team beating the second 3-0. On the girls’ side, the host team, Majunga’s Volleyball Club from Boeny, narrowly defeated CRJS Toamasina 3-2 (18/25, 22/25, 25/17, 25/22, 15/13).
Three other national competitions remain on the federation’s calendar following these youth cups, including the U19s in April in the capital, and the U13 and U17 tournaments in early August in Fianarantsoa. The Madagascar 2nd Division Cup will take place from September 4 to 12 in the capital, followed by the major 1st Division championship scheduled from September 25 to October 3. The U23 National Cup will conclude the season in style in early November in Antsirabe.
