Guy Laurent Ramanankamonjy returns to public service. Appointed as the Director General of Tafita, he is tasked with helping to structure the financing of Malagasy sports.
The former Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication, Guy Laurent Ramanankamonjy, is the new Director General of the Tahiry Aina ho an’ny Fanatanjahantena sy Itsinjovana ny Tanora (Tafita), an organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This appointment comes at a strategic moment for Malagasy sports, as the next Indian Ocean Island Games (JIOI) are approaching in the Comoros in August 2027.
His career has led him to hold several positions of responsibility. He notably served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication under the presidency of Hery Rajaonarimampianina, after working within the administration of that sector. He has also worked in the private sector, particularly in mining. Furthermore, his experience extends to the sports movement, in which he is involved, notably through kickboxing.
This background at the crossroads of the public sector, the private sector, communication, and sports could be an asset in his new role. The mission awaiting him at the head of the organization goes well beyond simple administrative management. It occupies an important place in the national sports system, particularly through the financing of sports and youth, support for federations and athletes, as well as the management and development of sports infrastructure. With less than a year until the 2027 JIOI, these missions take on particular importance.
For the new Director General of Tafita, who also possesses expertise in developing development projects, the challenge will be to make the organization fully operational as quickly as possible.
