A traffic accident occurred yesterday afternoon around 2:30 PM in front of the Anosimasina Itaosy pharmacy. A white Range Rover 4×4 collided with a tanker truck. The impact was violent. The front of the 4×4 was completely crushed, the hood was bent, the grille was destroyed, and the engine and its cables were exposed.
The tanker truck was hit on its left side but remained drivable. Pieces of metal and plastic were scattered across the road, blocking traffic.
The passenger in the front seat of the 4×4 suffered a forehead injury and was taken to the hospital. No fatalities were reported. The police, present at the scene, secured the area and facilitated traffic flow. Onlookers gathered around the damaged vehicles.
The driver of the 4×4 explained that he had fallen asleep at the wheel after a long journey. The truck driver stated that he had seen the 4×4 swerving while coming up from Anosimasina and had slowed down. Some witnesses mentioned possible alcohol consumption, a hypothesis that the investigation will still need to verify.
