In a preparation friendly match, CFFA, the reigning Madagascar champion, demonstrated superiority in technique, physicality, and efficiency, defeating the cup holder FC Rouge 3-1 in a Super Cup-style exhibition match yesterday at Iavoloha. The match served as a full-scale test for the new recruits of both teams as they prepare for the African Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, respectively.
After two missed attempts by Cristiano and Fabrice, the latter—a dynamic striker from Disciples FC—scored a brace. He first broke through the center to face the goalkeeper alone (28th minute), and later converted a cross from Disciples FC defender and Barea right-back Rado (36th minute). Cosfa striker Toky narrowed the gap before halftime (40th minute) by breaking through the center and rounding the goalkeeper, Goal Kely.
The score was 2-1 at halftime. The Andoharanofitsy team extended their lead after the break when Tendry intercepted a back pass and scored against Ajesaia goalkeeper Berni. While the new recruits performed well, some of our existing players failed to adapt to them. We must work on ball retention and, above all, finishing over the next two weeks.” The two teams will meet again for a return friendly match this Sunday at the same venue.
