MADAGASCAR – SOUTH AFRICA – Chamber of Commerce opens up new opportunities

A new Chamber of Commerce aims to strengthen business relations between Madagascar and South Africa. Officially presented during the Fier-Mada economic fair, the Madagascar South Africa Chamber (Masacham) seeks to facilitate trade, investment, and partnerships between economic operators from both countries.

The new structure primarily aims to bring Malagasy and South African companies closer together. B2B meetings are intended to allow entrepreneurs to identify partners, share experiences, and develop joint projects. Sharing skills and expertise is also among its main areas of intervention.

This initiative comes as South Africa represents a significant market for Malagasy companies. The commercial and investment prospects offered by the country have notably motivated the creation of this Chamber, which intends to facilitate Malagasy operators’ access to the South African market and strengthen their exchanges with their counterparts.

Several sectors are involved in this cooperation, including agriculture and agribusiness, industry, mining, tourism, energy, technology, services, as well as transport and logistics. These are all areas in which Malagasy companies could seek to diversify their activities and access new markets.

The Chamber also plans to support companies in their procedures and facilitate their access to information regarding the markets of both countries. Bringing entrepreneurs and investors together is expected to foster the realization of projects and the establishment of sustainable partnerships.

Furthermore, Masacham intends to act as an intermediary between the private sector and institutions. Authorities, diplomatic representations, professional organizations, and chambers of commerce will be involved in discussions to identify obstacles to the development of economic relations and examine ways to address them.

Through networking, B2B meetings, and institutional partnerships, the new Chamber seeks to strengthen economic ties between Madagascar and South Africa. Ultimately, it hopes to contribute to the increase of trade and investment between the two nations.
