Transforming an idea into a viable project capable of generating revenue remains a challenge for many young entrepreneurs in Madagascar.
The Student Entrepreneurs Club of the Rendez-vous des Entrepreneurs (CEERE), with the support of the Viseo Group, is assisting project leaders through EJE Lab 3.0, a four-month program. The support is based on guidance, practical training, and mentoring. Lectures, fieldwork, experience sharing, and storytelling are among the methods used. Participants work specifically on their ideas, tools, business models, and the commercialization of their projects.
The objective goes beyond the search for income. The initiative also emphasizes the economic and social impact of entrepreneurship. For Heritiana Manantsoa, president of CEERE, “the image of the entrepreneur is often associated with someone who wants to get rich.” However, entrepreneurship also requires ideas, tools, and a spirit of leadership, he believes.
Guidance and advice remain important needs for young people who wish to start. The program seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and field realities, allowing participants to test their ideas and identify necessary adjustments.
Among the participants is Fenosoa David Rakotomalala, who is developing a project in the health sector, focusing on guidance and connecting patients with healthcare professionals. A previous participation in a project competition allowed him to identify certain shortcomings. “There were elements missing from my project during the competition, which prevented me from being selected. This is one of the reasons why I am participating in this training. I want to have a usable project that can be commercialized,” he testifies.
During the four months, the young people work on different stages, from defining the need to building the business model. The exchanges and practical exercises are intended to help them better understand their market, structure their offer, and consider the conditions for implementation. The challenge is to evolve projects beyond the initial idea so that they can meet concrete needs and create economic and social value.
