5×5 Basketball – U16: AS Saint-Michel boys set to defend their title

The Amoron’i Mania Regional Basketball League will be in the spotlight from August 22 to 30 as it hosts the U16 boys’ and girls’ national championships in Ambositra. The competition will bring together the best under-16 teams from various regional leagues, with thirty teams registered in the girls’ category and thirty-six in the boys’ category.

In the boys’ category, AS Saint-Michel, representing Analamanga, will enter the tournament as the defending champion. The team will have to defend its crown against opponents determined to seize the trophy. The competition promises to be particularly fierce, with several teams capable of contending for the top spots.

Key contenders include Fandrefiala and NBE, both from the Analamanga league, as well as Ascut Atsinanana. These teams have strong arguments to challenge the titleholder and attempt to reach the pinnacle of national U16 basketball.

In the girls’ category, Fandrefiala Analamanga finds itself in a similar situation. As the defending champion, the team will need to remain solid to retain its trophy against ambitious opposition. Lucadro Analamanga, JCBA Analamanga, and JEA Vakinankaratra are among the teams likely to play the role of spoilers and challenge Fandrefiala’s supremacy.

With defending champions under pressure and challengers determined to dethrone them, the U16 national championships promise an intense battle. In Ambositra, AS Saint-Michel and Fandrefiala will share a common mission: to keep their crowns. Facing them, the challengers will have nine days to take down the champions and write their names into the national record books.
