PORTRAIT – Dina Mialinelina makes a grand return to La Teinturerie

After several projects carried out between Madagascar and France, Dina Mialinelina returns to the Malagasy stage this Friday at La Teinturerie, ahead of a second scheduled performance in the country.

Dina Mialinelina’s voice will resonate once again in Madagascar. This Friday, August 21, the artist will take over La Teinturerie with her quintet for an evening dedicated to her musical universe. These two upcoming dates offer a chance to discover an artist whose creative work extends far beyond the boundaries of music.

For this first evening, Dina Mialinelina will be on guitar and vocals, accompanied by Julie Ratefy on keyboards, Tsanta Nasandratra on backing vocals, Kevy Rakotoarivelo on drums, and Harty Andriambelo on bass. The group will showcase the work of her quintet, Dina M., built around her own compositions and arrangements.

Born in Madagascar, Dina Mialinelina is a singer, musician, composer, author, actress, and performer. Her career, which began at age 17, spans theater, jazz, blues, and rock. Notably, her EP ‘Rakemba’, released in June 2024, became a finalist for the 2025 RFI Discovery Prize.

Since December 2023, the artist has been based in France while continuing to travel between the two countries. Beyond music, she is involved in dance, theater, and cinema, including a collaboration with director Robin Campillo on the film ‘L’Île rouge’. She is currently writing her first play, ‘Dans le ventre d’un monstre’.

Throughout her work, the Malagasy language remains central. ‘I continue to write stories in Malagasy, even when I travel around the world,’ she says. These upcoming performances mark a celebration of her free-spirited creativity, bridging her Malagasy heritage with a global perspective.
