“There are no technical obstacles to holding elections in July 2027,” stated CENI President Thierry Rakotonarivo in a declaration relayed by the election management body this Monday. This statement follows the announcement by the President of the Refoundation, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, who confirmed that the first electoral consultations would take place in the second half of 2027, as scheduled in the Refoundation timeline, during his meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Durban on Sunday.
The CENI indicates that the electoral preparation schedule currently allows for this deadline to be met. The revision of the electoral list must be “definitively completed in April 2027,” according to the institution’s statement. The electoral lists must be ready by that date.
For Thierry Rakotonarivo, the announcement of an electoral deadline in July 2027 also signals the authorities’ commitment to leading the process toward a return to electoral consultations.
