The announcement regarding the opening of the road between the Philibert-Tsiranana High School and the new covered multisports gymnasium in Mangarivotra was made last January. This municipal road was scheduled to be opened to bicycles, motorcycles, pedestrians, and high school students forty-five days after the completion of security work on the sports infrastructure. However, eight months later, the path remains inaccessible to the public and two-wheeled vehicles.
On Tuesday, the Minister of Sports and local authorities in Mahajanga visited the site to assess the situation. The Minister announced the imminent opening of this road in the interest of the public and the high school students. However, certain conditions must still be met.
“Efforts will be made to open the road connecting Philibert-Tsiranana High School to the gymnasium before the start of the school year. Further work will be carried out to secure the facilities of the large covered gymnasium before the road opens. The goal is to open the road on time to facilitate the movement of students and local residents and to improve local infrastructure. The resumption of construction work on the multisports complex is scheduled for the beginning of 2027.” On January 22, the new regional director of Sports for Boeny had stated that this access would be opened after forty-five days of work.
