The Madagascar Senior Athletics Championship, held on the synthetic track of the Alarobia Stadium, has concluded its 100-meter events. In the men’s category, Junior Tsiravay secured the national title, while Zo Rakotonary dominated the women’s event yesterday.
The men’s 100-meter final provided a high-level spectacle for the enthusiastic crowd. In his first appearance in the senior category, Junior Tsiravay (Cosfa Analamanga) confirmed his potential by clinching his first national title. He finished the 100 meters in 10.4 seconds, ahead of Eric Justin (Cospn Analamanga), who was the double junior champion last week, finishing in 10.7 seconds. Brutho Randrianomenitompo from the AJAT Sud-ouest club completed the podium with a time of 10.8 seconds.
The battle remained tight between the two main contenders until the final 20 meters, where Tsiravay utilized his power and top speed to pull away. Deeply moved, the new champion dedicated his victory to his late sister-in-law.
In the women’s category, Zo Rakotonary (ESAA Analamanga) once again proved her status as a national sprint reference. In the absence of Claudine Nomenjanahary, the experienced sprinter won the final in 12.00 seconds, ahead of Ophélie Razafimandimby (ABCA Amoron’i Mania) and her teammate Mialy Rafarasoa (ESAA Analamanga). This victory adds to her previous titles from 2018 and 2022. Looking ahead, Rakotonary aims to secure a spot on the national team for the 2027 Indian Ocean Island Games (JIOI) in Comoros.
