A club from Lesotho and a team from Zambia are on the menu for the two clubs representing Madagascar in the 2026-2027 African football competitions. Following the official draw conducted this Thursday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at its headquarters in Cairo, CFFA and FC Rouge now know their opponents for the first preliminary rounds of the interclub competitions.
As the official representative of the Great Island in the most prestigious continental competition, the Centre de Formation de Football d’Andoharanofotsy (CFFA) will face Lijabatho FC of Lesotho in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. The first leg matches will be held between September 4 and 6, while the decisive return leg will take place from September 11 to 13.
Meanwhile, FC Rouge will defend the Malagasy flag in the CAF Confederation Cup. The Malagasy team has been drawn against the Zambian side Red Arrows FC for this first preliminary round. FC Rouge will begin its campaign away from home during the first leg scheduled for September 4-6, 2026, before hosting the Zambian team in Madagascar for the return leg scheduled between September 11 and 13, 2026.
In the event of qualification based on the aggregate score of the two matches, FC Rouge will secure its ticket to the second preliminary round, where a continental giant, the South African club Kaizer Chiefs, is already waiting. The first leg is scheduled for October 16-18, and the return leg for October 23-25.
