A fire broke out yesterday morning in the Ankadindramamy neighborhood, causing panic among residents. A tumultuous crowd gathered at the scene, with some shouting that a child was still trapped inside the burning house. However, emergency services confirmed that there were no casualties.
The fire department reported receiving the alert at 8:56 AM. A team from the Andravoahangy station arrived ten minutes later. The fire, which started in a single-story wooden house, was brought under control in fourteen minutes. According to them, the disaster was triggered by a child playing with fire inside the home.
The National Police provided a different version of events. In their report, they stated that the fire originated from a short circuit caused by a nearby utility pole. The fire reportedly spread, reducing the house and its contents to ashes. Officers added that electricity was restored by Jirama following the intervention.
No loss of human life was reported. However, according to witness accounts, all of the family’s belongings were destroyed.
